About Me

I have been a long distance bicycling since I was 10 years old.  My mom took me on a week long bike trip at about 350 total miles when I was 10, and I completed it on a "Target" 10-speed that was way too big for me.  I was also one of the only people on the ride wearing a helmet!  The next year my parents bought me my first Trek road bike, a very small men's version, as they did not have women's OR kids sizes back then!  I then trained and completed this same bike ride across Wisconsin for the next 7 summers.  So I can thank my mom for my love of biking.

I continue to long distance bike and will complete my first Cycle Oregon this September.  I have recently gotten into mountain biking and completed a Trek Dirt Series weekend event.  I learned a lot and now feel confident enough to go riding on unknown trails to explore.  This summer, I competed in my first ever bike race, mountain bike PIR Short Track series.  I had a blast and hope to be back for more.

Why I Joined Sorella

I joined Sorella Forte to be inolved with women who are passionate about biking.  And boy, are these women inspirational.  I have been a recreational rider for the past two years and just recently did my first MTB PIR Short Track races.  I am not sure I will be doing a lot of racing in the future, but I really enjoy the camaraderie and support of the other women on my team.  They have insipired me to improve, work harder, and have some goals.  Thank you team!

Racing...

Colleen cheers on her teammates

If we're not racing, we're cheering. Thanks for running up that hill a dozen times, Colleen!

...and recreation

Sorellas on a group recreation ride

Fun on a group ride. See, we're not all about racing ;-) more photos.

The bicycle is just as good company as most husbands and, when it gets old and shabby, a woman can dispose of it and get a new one without shocking the entire community.
