Cycling Links and Resources

Here is a list of cycling links including companies, organizations and resources vital to our region’s cycling community. Some cater specifically to women, others are just companies we like and want to support.

  • Finding the perfect (and safe) bicycle helmet
    • Do you wear a helmet every time you ride your bicycle? If not, you should seriously consider making a purchase. Wearing a helmet could save your life someday.
  • Bicycle Transportation Alliance

    • The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) is a non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon and SW Washington. Since 1990, the BTA has worked in partnership with citizens, businesses, community groups, government agencies and elected officials to create communities where people can meet their daily transportation needs on a bike.
  • Bicycles and Ideas for Kids Empowerment

    • Through our two core programs and four ancillary ones (please see our individual program summaries for further information), b.i.k.e. makes a strong, individualized commitment to each rider. We teach them personal empowerment, which leads to transformation in their lives. As we like to say, “The children are in training for life’s cycles.” Our lofty outcomes are built upon a solid foundation of research-proven strategies for helping at-risk youth become productive, prosocial, powerful members of their communities.
  • Community Cycling Center (CCC)

    • The Community Cycling Center, founded in 1994, broadens access to bicycling and its benefits through our hands-on programs, volunteer projects, and neighborhood bike shop.
  • Shift to Bikes

    • Shift is an organization that promotes bike fun. Most rides are non-competitive and free-wheeling, tending toward social gathering. Once you feel comfortable in the saddle, you are encouraged to lead a ride of your own. Shift orchestrates Pedalpalooza, a three week celebration with hundreds of bike events, each June.
  • Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA)

    • The place to go for all things bike racing in Oregon.
  • Monday Night Racing at PIR

    • If you’re thinking about racing your bike and want to get your feet wet, Monday night PIR is a great place to learn! Seasoned racers from local teams including Lakeside Bicycles/Fred Meyer,  Sorella Forte and Team Oregon will be available to provide introductions, answer questions, give advice and ride along with novice men and women racers. Please inquire at registration.
  • Cross Crusade

    • The Cross Crusade is cyclo-cross race series based in Portland, Oregon held over an eight week period during the months of October and November. As of 2005, the series was the largest cyclo-cross series in the US.
