Mt Tabor Series Wrap Up
David the promoter noticed us right away, calling out all of us in the Sea of Blue as we waited for our start time! I hoped Ruth wouldn't be tipped off that there were so many of us...
five of the 11 in the masters field! Kim, Rhonda, Sarah, Jan and Martina! oh, wait, Six. I forgot to count myself. The plan was to work hard early to try to wear out Ruth so that it might be possible for me to finish ahead of her and gain enough points for the Tabor Series overall.
I had to work really hard at sitting in! there were a few new non-regulars in the pack so it was a little squirrelly (I only went into the gutter once). But, Ruth figured it all out and held on. Really well, I might add. So did Anne Kennedy and Daphne, and the others!
Some great pulls and teamwork by everyone! Sarah dashed off to collect a prime, yay!
Last lap, after some fabulous descent, uphill now... Kim pulls first, then shifts to let Rhonda take over, I'm right behind, ready for it... Ruth is to my right, behind Kim! this might be interesting!
It was! Kim had a weird shift, which slowed her down just a bit and Ruth hit her wheel and went down. Oh no! that wasn't our plan! Rhonda takes off, I get all flustered, not sure what to do. I hope Kim's OK! I hope Ruth is OK! this wasn't the way to end it!!
After deciding that going back down the hill would be not the right answer, I crossed the finish line with the wind out of my sails. 5th. Ruth is fine, she's in 6th. Rhonda wins!! Yay!
So, I kept 2nd in the Series to Ruth's 1st. I was impressed that we couldn't break her and tire her out! We all go chat with her later to make sure she's OK and she is. In fact, she asks me about joining our team!! So, apparently, no hard feelings! Yay!
What an impressive fun ride! I got to see our talented and inspirational team in action for the first time, really, up close and for real. We are so pro. Well, not me... I was the only one who didn't do her job!!
Thanks so much for all the help! and it was really fun being a part of it all.
